local chapter includes membership in the national AAUW organization made up
of over 1,600 branches nationwide. Each branch has unique qualities, tailored
by the interests and concerns of its members. Nationwide the goals are to
promote equity for women, education and self development over the life span,
and promote positive societal change by encouraging and teaching women to be
leaders, offering educational experiences, and promoting projects which
encourage education in the chapters’ local communities. Friendships formed in
AAUW tend to be life-long based on common values, education, and work toward
common goals. Become a member
of a large network promoting equity and education for women and girls. The
Visalia-Sequoia Branch focuses on raising funds for local scholarships to
increase the number of college educated women in our community. We have given
over $250,000 in college scholarships, money raised primarily through our
biannual Booksale. Membership is a
key to AAUW’s future and the continuation of our history of providing
scholarships. Contact the Membership Vice President
